He currently serves as the Head Basketball Coach at the Los Angeles College of Divinity and previously completed three years as Commissioner of the California Basketball Association (CBA).
Prior to these roles, Dr. Miller served for a record-setting 16 years as Head Men’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director at Los Angeles City College (LACC). During his tenure from 1992 to 2008, he transformed the program into one of the nation’s premier junior college basketball programs, establishing new standards of excellence and sustained success.

Under Coach Miller’s leadership, LACC became one of the most dominant programs in California and the nation. He became the winningest coach in school history, setting records for total victories, winning percentage, conference championships, Final Eight appearances, state championships, and NCAA Division I player transfers. His teams won more than 80 percent of their games, including an extraordinary run of four consecutive 30-win seasons from 1999 through 2003.

Among his proudest accomplishments is mentoring and developing more than 100 student-athletes who advanced to NCAA Division I programs—believed to be the highest total in the nation during that era. His teams also established a national record by winning 14 consecutive conference championships from 1993-94 through 2006-07, surpassing UCLA’s previous record of 13 consecutive conference titles.
From 1999 through 2007, LACC compiled an outstanding overall record of 241-38, achieving an .864 winning percentage, the highest among all NCAA Division I and California community college basketball programs during that span. These remarkable achievements earned Coach Miller national recognition as one of the country’s most successful and respected collegiate basketball coaches.

Before joining Los Angeles City College, Dr. Miller enjoyed tremendous success at the high school level. As Head Coach at Ribet Academy in Los Angeles, he guided the program to back-to-back CIF Championships and a California Division V State Championship. Earlier, at Cathedral High School, he became California’s youngest head basketball coach at just 21 years old and led the Phantoms to the best two-year record in the school’s 85-year history, capturing two league championships and two CIF Final Four appearances.

Throughout his coaching career, Coach Miller has consistently built championship programs. In his first 19 full seasons as a head coach, he was named Coach of the Year 18 times and coached eight different teams to 30 or more victories. He also made history as the first basketball coach in California to win state championships at both the high school level (Ribet Academy, 1990-91) and the collegiate level (Los Angeles City College, 1996-97 and 2002-03).
Beyond his accomplishments on the court, Coach Miller is deeply committed to education and lifelong learning. He has earned five college degrees and has dedicated his life to mentoring future leaders through athletics, education, leadership development, and public speaking. His influence extends far beyond wins and championships, reflected in the countless students and athletes whose lives have been shaped by his guidance, integrity, and commitment to excellence.
